Eighth Day (Shemini Atzeret) Celebration

The Eighth Day (Shemini Atzeret in Hebrew) is celebrated on the day following the seven-day Feast of Tabernacles. It is a day of rest from our daily work to celebrate together (Leviticus 23:39).
In the Bible, the number eight signifies a new beginning.
The Eighth Day is also called the Great Day (John 7:37).
This Feast points to the Last Great Day, when there will be a new heaven and a new earth (Revelation 21) after the last enemy (death) has been destroyed, concluding the millennial reign of Jesus (Yeshua) on earth (1 Corinthians 15:24-26, Revelation 20:14).
It will truly be the last great day, for in that new Jerusalem on the new earth there shall be no more night. The glory of God will light it continually and its gates will never close (Revelation 21:23-25). In walled cities the gates are closed at night.
We will reflect on the meaning of this Feast for followers of Jesus (Yeshua) today.
